Happy Thanksgiving from Canada!

In Canada, it's the Thanksgiving long weekend, which happily coincides with so much of our harvest time. An uncharacteristically warm, autumn day was lovely for picking apples at a local orchard.

I don't have my parents any longer, my dad having passed away six years ago and my mom this past spring, but I was happy to be able to spend time with friends and family this weekend. Apple torte was my contribution to the turkey dinner with my brother, sister-in-law and ten others.

Another dinner, this one with friends, provided a good excuse to bake lemon meringue pies.

After two days of large dinners and plenty of desserts, all I crave this afternoon is a cup of mint tea, possibly with an apple, but possibly not even that!

Happy Thanksgiving to you, even if it is not being celebrated in your country!

I love your visits and am thankful for your comments

  2. Happy Thanksgiving, Karen! Our weekend has been like an Indian Summer. We've had the warmest Sunday on record in October. Loved it!
Your pies look wonderful. Funny how meringue makes a pie look so fabulous! I bet they were delicious too. The tea in your cup looks good too. Wonderful photos. Thank you for sharing with us today and have a lovely week.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  5. Karen, So nice of you to visit me at The Writers Reverie - and I'm happy to visit you with such tempting Thanksgiving treats to catch my eyes! Happy Thanksgiving - hope it was a good one! I am sure you are missing your mom - mine's been gone for a few years now - and especially during a holiday. Those meringue pies reminded me of her - they were one of her specialty pies! Hope to visit again!
    Joy!

  23. Hello Karen
Thank you for your visit and comment on my blog.
You asked how to attach rose hips to a wreath.
It depends on the base of your wreath. Mine are made from natural material like moss, vine or straw. I use floral wire or florist pins to attach flowers or berries to my wreath.
    Love your blog, great pictures!!
